Now I’m Open

Meet like-minded people in Phuket

On your own in Phuket? Check in for the days you're there, say what you're open to, and other travellers and locals who chose to be seen can ask to join. They see your city, never your exact spot.

Phuket offers solo travellers beaches, island-hopping trips to Phi Phi and Phang Nga Bay, and a nightlife scene that ranges from wild to mellow. It is easy to meet people on boat trips, in dive schools and at beach bars at sunset. Travellers gather in Patong for nightlife, in Kata and Karon for a calmer beach scene, and in the colourful Sino-Portuguese streets of Old Phuket Town.

Meeting people in Phuket: what works

  • Choose Kata or Karon for a social but calmer beach base, or Patong if nightlife is the priority.
  • Book a group boat trip to Phang Nga Bay or the Phi Phi islands, where you will spend the day with other travellers.
  • Try a dive or snorkelling course; dive schools are naturally social and pair up solo divers.
  • Explore Old Phuket Town's Thalang Road on foot and visit the Sunday Walking Street market there.

Stay safe

Swim only where red flags are not flying because rip currents are strong in the monsoon season (roughly May to October), and agree on taxi or tuk-tuk fares before you get in.

Meet in public places, tell a friend where you’re going, and never send money to someone you met online.
