Things to Do in Singapore at Night
Things to do in Singapore at night: free light shows at Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands and Jewel, late gardens and parks, the Night Safari, satay supper and tips for getting home.

On this page
Some of the best things to do in Singapore at night are free. Watch Garden Rhapsody at the Supertree Grove, then walk to Marina Bay Sands for Spectra, or catch the Rain Vortex light show at Jewel. Stroll the Botanic Gardens until midnight, cycle East Coast Park, visit the Night Safari, and finish with satay on Boon Tat Street.
Why the city is better after dark
Evenings are cooler, the skyline lights up and the city slows down a little. Most of the big night attractions cost nothing, so you can plan a whole evening for the price of supper. Night plans are also easy to share. "Light show, then satay" is a simple invitation that most people can say yes to.
Free light shows
You can see two or three of these in one evening if you plan the timings.
Garden Rhapsody, Gardens by the Bay
The Supertrees light up to music daily at 7.45pm and 8.45pm, and the show is free. Lie on the ground under the trees for the best view. The outdoor gardens, including the Supertree Grove, are open from 5am to 2am.
The show changes theme through the year. Gardens by the Bay lists:
- Opera in the Gardens: 1 to 31 October 2026.
- Garden Waltz: 1 to 28 November 2026.
- The Christmas Special: 29 November 2026 to 1 January 2027, with dates subject to change.
Some ticketed events take place at the Supertree Grove in the festive season, so check the calendar if you are going in December. The OCBC Skyway, the elevated walkway between the Supertrees, is ticketed and has last admission at 8.30pm.
Spectra, Marina Bay Sands
A free 15-minute outdoor light and water show at the Event Plaza in front of Marina Bay Sands.
- Sunday to Thursday: 8pm and 9pm.
- Friday and Saturday: 8pm, 9pm and 10pm.
Garden Rhapsody at 7.45pm, then a walk to the Event Plaza for Spectra at 9pm, makes a good first evening in Marina Bay.
Rain Vortex, Jewel Changi Airport
The indoor waterfall at Jewel runs from 10am to 10pm, and you do not need a flight ticket to see it. The free light and music showcase plays at 8pm and 9pm from Monday to Thursday, with an extra 10pm show from Friday to Sunday, on public holidays and on the eves of public holidays. More ideas are on our Changi area page.
Gardens and parks that stay open late
- Singapore Botanic Gardens. Free and open 5am to midnight daily, at 1 Cluny Road. An evening loop past Swan Lake is cool and quiet. See our Botanic Gardens area page.
- East Coast Park. NParks lists it as open 24 hours, with around 13km of coast and bike and skate rental shops. Night cycling with the sea breeze is a classic. Several footpaths and areas are closed for upgrading in October and November 2026, so expect some diversions.
- Gardens by the Bay outdoor gardens. Open until 2am, so you can walk off dinner after the light show.
One rule to know: nature reserves and nature parks, including the MacRitchie and Bukit Timah trails, are only open from 7am to 7pm. NParks closes them at night so nocturnal animals can feed and breed undisturbed. Save the forest trails for the morning.
The Night Safari
Mandai describes the Night Safari as the world's first nocturnal wildlife park. It is open daily from 6pm to midnight, with last entry at 11.15pm. The walking trails and the Safari Adventure Tram start at 7pm, and everyone must choose a time slot when booking.
It is ticketed. Singapore residents can get local rates by signing up for Mandai's WildPass, and prices vary by date, so check the booking page. One note for late 2026: the Fishing Cat exhibit on the Pangolin Trail is closed for refurbishment from 7 October to 31 December 2026.
Free performances at Esplanade
Esplanade, Theatres on the Bay, runs free programmes alongside its ticketed shows. In October 2026, its free Popaholic series covers pop music from chart-toppers to viral comeback songs. Check the free programmes page for what is on when you go. A free gig by the water, then a walk along the bay, is a relaxed way to spend an evening.
Supper
No night out in Singapore is complete without supper.
- Lau Pa Sat, 18 Raffles Quay. The hawker centre is open 24 hours, and its Satay Street outside runs from 7pm to 3am on weekdays and from 3pm to 3am at weekends. Order a mix of sticks to share. Our Raffles Place area page has more nearby.
- Your neighbourhood hawker centre or coffee shop. Many stay open late for prata, noodles and teh. Stall hours vary and some close without notice, so check before you set off.
For more food ideas, our makan kaki guide covers hawker centres by area.
A sample evening plan
- 7.15pm. Meet at Bayfront MRT (Exit B) and walk across to Gardens by the Bay.
- 7.45pm. Garden Rhapsody at the Supertree Grove.
- 8.30pm. Walk to the Event Plaza at Marina Bay Sands.
- 9pm. Spectra.
- 9.30pm. Walk or take a short ride to Lau Pa Sat for satay.
It costs nothing until supper, and every stop is busy and well lit.
Staying safe at night
- Stay in busy, well-lit areas, especially if you are on your own or meeting someone new.
- Plan your ride home before you go out. Check last train times in a transport app, as they vary by station.
- Charge your phone and carry a power bank. You will lean on maps and ride-hailing apps.
- Keep off forest trails after dark. Nature reserves close at 7pm for good reason.
- Tell a friend your plans if you are meeting someone for the first time, and make your own way there.
- Call 999 for the police in an emergency.
Company for the evening
Night plans are often better shared, whether it is a light show with a new friend or a first date over satay. If you are going solo, our guide to things to do alone in Singapore has more ideas. If it is a date, see first date ideas in Singapore.
A new option: Now I'm Open
Now I'm Open is a new, free web app from Singapore, launched on 19 October 2026 for adults 18 and over. Membership is still small, so you may not always find someone for the same evening.
You can post a short card in Friends or Date mode, such as "Open to Garden Rhapsody then satay, Fri 7.30pm" or "Open to a night cycle at East Coast Park, Sat 9pm". People nearby who want the same can say "I'm in", and chat opens only when you both say yes. Your location shows by area only, photos are visible to signed-in members, and selfie verification adds a Verified badge. Women can choose to show their cards only to women. Visiting? Our guide to visiting Singapore solo explains how to find company while you are here.
