Now I’m Open

New to Singapore

Just moved to Singapore? Start with one small plan

The first months in a new city can feel quiet, even when you are busy. Now I'm Open lets you post what you are open to, like a hawker dinner or a walk near your new home, and meet people nearby who want the same.

Good places to meet

  • Singapore Botanic Gardens: A UNESCO World Heritage Site with free entry, open 5am to midnight.
  • Maxwell Food Centre: Central hawker centre in Chinatown, a short walk from Chinatown MRT Exit B.
  • Central Public Library: Free to walk in, in the basement of the National Library Building near Bugis MRT.
  • National Museum of Singapore: Open 10am to 7pm daily. Permanent galleries are free for citizens and PRs; other visitors buy tickets.
  • Fort Canning Park: Central hilltop park with heritage gardens, open 24 hours.

Tips

  • Meet in a busy public place for the first time and let someone know your plans.
  • Foreign-issued Visa and Mastercard contactless cards work on MRT and buses through SimplyGo, with a small daily admin fee.
  • Foreigners living here with Singpass can sign up for MyActiveSG+ to book sports facilities. Visitors without Singpass can buy single-entry passes at ActiveSG pools and gyms.
  • NLB library membership is free for citizens. Foreign pass holders pay a registration fee plus a monthly or annual subscription, so check current fees.
  • Clear your own tray at hawker centres. It is expected, and NEA enforces it.

Questions

Do I need to have lived here long?

No. Now I'm Open is for adults aged 18 and over. Pick your area, post a card for something you would enjoy, and see who is open to it.

How is my location shown?

By area only, chosen from 39 Singapore areas. Others see the area, not your address or exact location.

What if no one says I'm in?

The app has only just launched, so membership is still small and replies can take time. A popular time, like a weekend morning, and a simple plan such as a walk or coffee tend to work best.
