Good places to meet
- Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall: Large mall in the busy Nagoya area, close to many hotels and food streets.
- Barelang Bridge: A chain of six bridges linking Batam, Rempang and Galang. Popular at sunset.
- Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya: One of Indonesia's largest Buddhist temples, with a 25m Maitreya Buddha statue in the main hall.
- Harbour Bay: Waterfront area with seafood restaurants and its own ferry terminal, served from HarbourFront.
- Nongsa: Quieter coast with resorts and beaches, with ferries to Nongsapura.
Tips
- Ferries leave from HarbourFront and Tanah Merah ferry terminals. Batam terminals include Batam Centre, Harbour Bay, Sekupang and Nongsapura, so match the ferry to where you are staying.
- Operators include Batam Fast, Majestic Fast Ferry, Horizon Fast Ferry and Sindo Ferry. Buy from the operator or a known booking site, and book your return at the same time.
- Singapore citizens can visit Indonesia visa-free with a passport valid for at least six months. Indonesia's free online arrival declaration (allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id) is filed within three days before arrival; check current rules before you go.
- Agree the fare before you get into a taxi, or use a ride-hailing app, and change money only at licensed changers.
- Meet your group at the Singapore terminal, stay in public places, and keep your own passport, money and return ticket with you.

Is Batam in the app's travel list?
The travel check-in list may not include Batam. You can still post a card for the trip from your Singapore area and describe the plan, the date and the ferry.

Meet first in Singapore for a coffee or meal. If you go, book your own ferry and room, stay in busy public places, and share your plans with a friend.
Which ferry terminal should we use?
It depends on where you are staying. Harbour Bay and Sekupang are served from HarbourFront, while Batam Centre has ferries from both HarbourFront and Tanah Merah. Check the operator's timetable before you book.
