Tips

  • NLB runs free and registered book clubs at public libraries in English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil. Check GoLibrary for dates.
  • NLB also publishes a free Book Club Guide if you want to start your own group.
  • Singapore's first Indie Bookshop Day ran from 2 to 4 October 2026 across 20 shops, with walking crawls in Chinatown, Katong and Bras Basah.
  • Note that library@orchard is closed for renovation. Central Public Library is the nearest alternative.
  • Meet in a library cafe or bookshop for the first chat. It is public, and the books give you plenty to talk about.

Questions

Do we all need to read the same book?

Not at first. A first meet-up can be a simple swap of what you are reading. Pick a shared book once you know what everyone enjoys.

Can I start a book club through the app?

Yes. Post an Ideas card about starting a club, meet the people who say I'm in, and agree a book and a monthly time.

Where is a good place to meet?

Libraries, bookshop cafes and quiet coffee shops work well. They are public, and easy to leave if the chat runs its course.
